I think Donny is in the fight of his life right now. This goes one of two ways - He either gets off and tries to pick up the pieces of his life, or he goes to prison and eventually registers as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
I think firing his attorney shortly before his trial is the worst possible thing he can do.
I am guessing this is a court appointed attorney. I can imagine a court appointed attorney is not going to be the best "money could buy". But I don't think he'll get a better attorney, and surely this cannot hurt his case.
