Well I may be reading between the lines a little but I take the "revolution" they propose, when taken with their anti-capitalist message, to mean "communist revolution" - even if they don't explicitly use those words in their music. Their non-musical commentary seems to back that up.
Either Tom Morello wears that hat as a costume to a Halloween party or he wears it like a badge representative of his beliefs. Same for de la Rocha and his red star arm band. Who knows, maybe they are just poseurs trying to look cool and tap a niche or maybe we really have to take them at their word and believe they are serious.
And like I said - I like their music too. But I don't have to like their message.
Wouldn't that be the ultimate spin if their whole "revolution" and anti-capitalist thing was just a conscious gimmick used as a marketing tool to sell more records to angsty leftists? These days you never know.
