I remember being at a small tech gathering years ago - I was very unsure of myself and when I had to say certain words I panicked a bit - gif is a classic - gif or jif? - So I decided to spell those sorts of things out - g-i-f for example...
By the end of the evening everyone was doing it - It's then that I realised they were all as clueless as me.....
Now I am a LOT older and say what I like - Fuck'em...
