SSRI's do not cure depression - They help manage the symptoms - Of course serotonin levels will drop after stopping SSRI's...

I have been taking them for 25 years - I was on Seroxat for 5 of them - Now I am on Venlafaxine - They work well for my BiPolar - I came off them a few years ago for a few weeks - Ended up sectioned on a locked ward for a month - Not because of the Venlafaxine, but because I stopped taking them my symptoms returned.....

As I said they are not meant to be a cure - The same way painkillers don't cure...
