I wanted to blast you out of the water for this comment and say "I used to drive in Southern Arizona all the time and never had a problem".
I think you are talking about the border patrol checkpoints. I've seen these, although I think they were in California, not Arizona. However, so long as you had a driver's license these aren't much of an issue.
This where it depends on your point of view. Some people will say "Oh my god these are a huge violation of my rights" where as I see this as my tax dollars at work searching for illegals.
