I don't know that there is a "standard", unless you're talking about a specific site's requirements.

For a 6:05 minute clip, try 720x480 (or 848x480) encoded to a file size of about 70 MB, or 1280x720 encoded to a file size of around 100 mb, and see how they look for you. For even smaller files, try an image size of 640x360 (may be too small for what you want).

One way to save bandwidth is to put one full resolution clip (say 1902x1080) up as an example, then use lower resolution clips for everything else.
