But before I'd sign on, I'd like to see what part of German, Japanese, and Italian exports were going to the US in the years before 1942 - and I'd like to know the volume of Chinese exports to other nations. Sure. What percentage of German, Japanese, and Italian exports were coming to the US in the years before 1942? (Did you mean 1941 perhaps?) I am pretty sure that Japan's economy wasn't built on making goods and exporting them to the United States. Nor was Germany.
If the United States and China got into a shooting war in the South Pacific.... that would shut down the bulk of trade with China instantly. Cargo ships don't like going through battlefields.
