ST. ANN, MO (KPLR) - St. Ann police were left shaking their heads this past weekend after a man broke into a business less than 50 feet from the station.
On Saturday morning construction workers called in a burglary at the 10400 block of St. Charles Rock Road.
According to police 48-year-old Sean Van Williams is facing four felony charges after they say he broke into empty restaurant that was under rehab repairs for a new business. Williams allegedly broke through two doors and a wall to steal copper from electrical panels in the building. He left more than $20,000 worth of damage behind. Not only did the suspect commit his crime during the day, he also had over 100 pounds of burglary tools in a duffel bag.
Detectives also say they had Williams in custody and the investigation wrapped up within 1 hour of the call. He faces felony burglary, theft, property damage and possession of burglary tool charges. So far there's no word on a future court date.
