The OP had this script working on shared hosting from above statement. Lots of people in this thread want to glorify sub par performance but I've been through the ringer way too many times to buy into that shit.
I will say again... your host is your blood line if you rely on online sales to make a living. Anything short of awesome in that department is not acceptable... and run forest... run. I have no agenda except to say your host will either make, or break you. And fuck dedicated or shared... it's all the same god damn thing. The host either knows what they are doing or they don't! And many times the owner of host may know what's up... but the god damn support sucks worse then a pile of mexicans trying to replace a light bulb.
food for thought...

Very well said, it was irrelevant whether i am trying to install on a shared or dedicated (even though the same script runs perfectly on both MojoHost Dedicated and BlueHost Shared without any issues). As you mentioned Support is the key. If support fails at the most basic level, then having the best servers or fastest doesn't mean anything. Telling the customer it's the fault of his programming of the script is a cop out. When any company does that, it's shows their support's lack of knowledge immediately. That's why many hosting companies have several Levels of tech support because not all tech guys know what they are doing
And guess what, if a simple cron job doesn't work on the shared server, it's not going to be working on a dedicated server either and the tech support is going to tell you the same thing both times.
