Even the oldest pyramid is not that old.
For the record, they do know quite a bit about them too since the hieroglyphics were successfully translated with the discovery of something called the Rosetta Stone.
That Carson seems completely oblivious to this just points to the narrow focus of his education, not that he is uneducated. However, it does suggest that he is not necessarily intelligent if he expresses assumptions about stuff, especially based on religious fundamentalism that rejects facts for faith held beliefs.
In my own experience, many of the surgeons I have met in my lifetime tend to believe they are gods but while still being human are completely oblivious of many things.
