It depends on so many factors and can't be generalized. As pornguy said, the return on investment is what counts. For some people it's payment for time, for others it's the optimum they can squeeze out of a deal. And for others it's just a cheque to pay for next month's rent.
From what I know shooters at Playboy, Hustler and Penthouse always make a lot less money than the models.
There are a lot of other examples in entertainment biz where more or less popular protagonists make a lot more green than the risk takers who make things happen.
