Both the University President and Chancellor resigned because of the pressure. I'm afraid a precedent was set, one that will have a crippling effect on not only Academia, but society as a whole. Giving in to their demands was the worst decision they could have ever made. The reason the U.S. doesn't negotiate with terrorist is the belief it will create more terrorist, with loftier demands. And that's basically what just happened in Missouri.
