i wonder if its even possible for a person who is well suited for the job to actually get it. the entire process centers around acquiring money & fame for a 2 year period, which is a skill set completely unrelated to doing the job. so, short of being a billionaire, how do you not whore yourself out to the wealthy to have any shot? a true grassroots campaign is not possible. you need friends in the media & a dayjob that gives you daily free press. bloomberg is the only billionaire i can think of who is not nuts & has a good record running a government.
