Next, I don't think Canada should pull out of Syria until the conflict is resolved, but the engagement was already scheduled to end in March 2016, and it was scheduled before the horrible attack in Paris. As the situation is dynamic, let's wait and see what happens.

On the refugee argument, don't forget that these people are desperate. They are leaving their homes and families and have no where to go. Taking them in is a wonderful humanitarian thing to do. At the same time, 25,000 does seem like a lot, and the timeline to bring them in does seem extremely fast at 6 weeks. By comparison, the United States will only take in 10,000 over 1 year I think. If Trudeau doesn't have the resources to properly screen each individual, then 25k in 6 weeks is asking for trouble in my opinion.

Considering the fact that Trudeau is brand new, younger, and has a shitload to deal with on his plate already, I would hope that he is careful about every decision he makes, and has very good reasons and lots of backup for every decision. I think he should match what the US is doing as far as the refugees are concerned but not exceed it the way he is.
