Back when I lived in Southern California and before I became vegetarian, I ate In-N-Out burgers quite frequently. In-N-out and Tommy's were my top 2 faves.
You have a point about loving what you can't have.... Scarcity or at least perceived scarcity has a way of boosting anything's appeal. When I was in college in the Bay Area in the early 90s, my buddies and I would do 'In-N-Out burger PILGRIMAGES' to Kettleman City. Thankfully, In-N-Out opened quite a few branches in the Bay Area since then.
