This is the exact point of this thread for me. Ukrainians didn't even hate or dislike most of Russians before Crimea. Ukrainians hated the Russian mafia ("politicians") who had huge political control within Ukraine, mostly benefiting their counter parts in Russia.
I would think of you as a Russian citizen would sympathize with this view point of the Ukrainians. Your own country did and is going through similar circumstances with your politicians and oligarchs. It's still happening in Russia today.
All this did was stir up a nationalist movement inside of Ukraine that was dormant for decades. Putin just wanted to poke the hornets nest so he could point his finger at the "evil Ukrainians" instead of having attention focused on himself. Majority of Ukrainians don't care, they are simple people and want to be left alone.
Lets talk about Crimea. Ukrainians and Russians could travel there peacefully, co-exist with no problems. When did you ever hear of problems in this area? Why did this need to happen?
I know people living in Crimea. Do they want to be Russian? NO. Do they want to be Ukrainian? NO. Do they care either way? NO. they just want to be left alone in peace. They believe both sides are corrupt and want to be left alone.
So please stop waving your Russian flag in the face of Ukraine. Because the same people are playing both sides like a fiddle. Again as Russians and your history I would have thought your people would be the first to understand this.
