Yeah that was bad effects but i do understand why they wanted to add that scene. They should just have done it better.
The scene i posted with that horrific sound effect to scare the sand people was so bad it was almost comical.
Then of course there was the new scenes in Jabba's Palace in ROTJ, and of course the Vader "Nooooooooo" at the end. Idiotic...
