The US probably Ok'd the hit. Turkey and US has strong ties. This probably brought a smile to the US state dept. It was basically a US sanctioned downing of the jet. Lets not kid ourselves about it. Turkey got the "Ok" from big brother to take down the Russian jet. Sometimes you just have to read between the lines.
