China was not invited, but it has decided to send its warplanes into Canadian sky as well (just for a case) and one of those military jets has approached the US base or the US plane over Canada. It was shot down by the US missile. How will the USA explain it to the rest of the world and will it do so? Man, I was trying my best to show it you in the most simple way. your analogy only slightly resembles what is actually happening...
the official story is that Russia joined in to help fight the terrorist groups and pretends it's on the same side as the west... (everyone knows that's not the case, but situation is a bit ambiguous, so tension is limited and both sides are still reasonably friendly)
but once NATO plane goes down, it will become 100% clear that the story "we are here to help fight terrorists" is 100% bs, tension will rise 10-fold and then who knows how that will play out, likely not well...
