I might remind those who are clamoring for more gun control that California has very tough gun control laws. The main one involved here is assault weapons. They are illegal to possess in the State. How did that law work for ya. Gun control is not the answer. Forgetting the politically correct BS and cracking down on outfits like CAIRE and the radical clerics in the Mosques is a place to start. Domestically, we have our share of loons out there that see fame in slaying as many people as they can but taking my guns away won't stop them. They will accomplish their task regardless of the law.
