That isn't true in the least. Intelligent people, or even specifically ones with high iq's, are just as prone to mental illness as anyone, even more so probably. An inventor will see a problem and spend every waking moment to solve this problem. Where someone who is mentally ill will try to solve a problem that isn't there to begin with. Having intelligence or an education in their background is used as justification for their beliefs if anything.
I used to compare it to a religion but that doesn't fit either. Religion can actually have a positive effect on people and generally does for the most part (not always as we all know). Chasing delusions can only do harm. Does this mean we don't question things regarding our governments words and actions? Of course not, it is our civic duty to do EXACTLY that. However insinuating they have evil agendas with every move they make is paranoia at its worst.
