You are missing his point about the press/media.

His point seems to be that he thinks Ali didn't make the statement. I get this from his final line in his opening post where he says...
"That is 100% written by some professionals and put out by Ali's people. I doubt Ali even knows Trump is running for President."
Even if Robbie is trying to make the point that the press should have checked into if Ali really made the statement or is even vaguely aware of it is kind of a mute issue. When someone's press representative makes a statement, it's accepted as coming from their client. The press doesn't go to the source to get that information, they get it from their press representative. That's the entire point of having a press representative.
Robbie is just hurt that his childhood idol is bashing his candidate.
