Ukraine is an "independent" country since 1991. All the times before it was a part of Russia. E.g. we have Siberia, Urals, Korelia etc. Ukraine and Belorussia were parts of Russia as well. They speak Russian, they have Russian culture and their pulation is Russian as well. So your comment just shows a luck of knowledge about my country. Go ask
Marina who she is and which country she is from. Today it's Ukraine (the independent country), but it was founded by the empress of Russia in 1794.

I don't think he will answer to your question, because he don't know that all Ukrainians are ethnic Russians, while African-American, Jew-Americans, German-Americans etc are absolutely different people. They have their own culture, languages etc. They even look different.
P.S. About 25% of Israelis are Russian Jews. They speak Russian, they have learned in Russian schools etc. But at least they have Jewish roots. So ethically they are not Russians (in theory). You can't say the same about the Ukrainians. They are not different to us in any aspect, because they are as Russian as we are.
