The Internet in a regular mind is about Web sites and Web services. They won't exist w/o HTTP and URI/URL invented by Brits. In the best case it would be just a modem network like FIDO. Also w/o satellites it won't be available globally. In the best case it would be some cable network to connect a determined number of consumers. That's definitely is not what we call the Internet.

To sum it up. Russians have sent dogs to the orbit. Nazi Germans have sent US citizens to the Moon. Yeah, great success for those both experimental groups
P.S. It will be much cooler is the Americans were smart enough to make their own space rockets and send the German Nazi criminals to the Moon with a one way ticket ;)
