To be honest, there must be more to this story.
I cannot see why this family was charged for setting a fire going, even if it went on state land.
In the UK farmers regularly burn on the moor lands. This prevents big fires starting and is also good for the land. In dry weather the moorland is prone to fires.
If a fire got out of hand, unless there was evidence it was done for criminal reason, no one would be charged.
The trouble is, these religious nut jobs do not give me confidence.
