The first 2016 CPA (ppl) fraud we got is funny
As a cam program offering CPA (ppl, pay per free), we get all the sorts of black hat cheaters. I was wondering what will be first notable affiliate fraudster of the year, and we got one using a method so funny I have to post it here.
In the daily check we do, we see a new guy who generated 20 signups with ratio 1:5. This is good, but happens to legit guys into direct marketing. We checked, these are real people, and even stay online hours (they like the site so much?), but, a 70% majority is female nicknames and emails. The http referer wiped out which is not a crime, could have been a lesbian email list targeted with redirector link.
Still it looked strange, so we emailed 10 of them asking who or what convinced them to signup, and the first guy replied: "I am interested in the position".
This was surely an unexpected reply, but even more unexpected is that the guy appeared to be an Emmy Award winning editor, according to his signature.
In the meantime a woman with no apparent awards replies too: "I've looked at cam sites before so had no problem especially for the hourly price offered if I got the job."
I was going to reply, asking what job, and got another answer: "I saw the ad for you guys needing to monitor camgirls to make sure they weren't doing drugs or showing kids on camera, so I signed up as per the instructions on the email you sent."
I got what was going on. I asked the guys to forward me the ad and the email. The ad was in craigslist as follows:
---

... ok I can see how $30/hour job to simply watch porn caused an 1:5 signup ratio for both male and female, including Emmy awarded ones.
However, even if we did not emailed the job dreamers ourselves proactively after just one day... making them very sad we pay our admins way less than $30/h... one of them would have contacted us most probably, before we would have paid this affiliate the first time.
Still, these guys was asked to write back only if and when they seen a model show drugs or kids, which never happens at our site anyway. In fact I see one of the guys been online 425 minutes (7 hours, or $245 dollars salary), others 175 minutes, 120 minutes and so on, with the shortest one 30 minutes, before to give up, as no kids jumped in video of course, so nothing to report.
