I am talking about those that still make Money (not hobbyists like you). They need specialists, and that is why Things are better than ever.

Edit: and to reply to your 1:50000 ratio statement. Yes, if you still promote like you did 10 years ago, you will convert at that ratio.
But there are still loads of people converting 1:1000 or better
So wise one, what are you doing in porn that is so wonderful? And don't reply you left porn, this is a porn board, a porn thread and about how thing have changed in the porn video business.

As Brian points out back before the Internet decided to give it away, VHS videos were making more than you can dream of. It's not about who makes more than they ever did, who's the richest man in some backwater, or how many sites they process for. It's about an industry that has declined.

All we can judge by is the number of people relying on it for an income, and their apparent success. As no processing company issues audited reports and that only tells their turnover, not how much the porn sites make.

As for me being a hobbyist. Yes after 35 years in the porn business I retired with enough money at 58 to be a hobbyist.

You are blind to the whole middleware, software, hosting, hardware, backbone, CDN industry, that need consultants and Experts. And that industry is booming.
How much of that is about porn? Driving a van of bread full of bread doesn't make you a baker. We all know the Internet is booming, more sales are done online every day. It continues to grow and break records. While the porn business shrinks.

Consumption of porn is through the roof, compared to when I was selling VHS videos via mail order consumption figures are astronomic. The difference is I sold 3 scenes on tape for $35.

We have moved on to giving away 40,000 views for $30. So people can sell traffic at $3 per 1,000 clicks.
