I was skeptical at first, but watch the Daily Show every night. Trevor Noah is really funny, smart, and his timing is perfect. I can't imagine a better replacement for Jon Stewart, though I heard Amy Schemer was offered the job. I like her too.

I agree, and I think this was established by the OP.

Geeszuz, Archie Bunker, this isn't the 70's anymore. Larry Wilmore is hilarious, but he already has his own show.

His English sounds good to me and I don't think he speaks slowly at all.

You can't compare the shows. First, Daily Show has stuck to the same format. The show itself is the same, only the host is different.
Stephen Colbert "played a character" on "The Colbert Report", which is owned by Comedy Central. Stephen Colbert took over as host of "Late Night", which is a completely different show, with a completely different format, on a completely different network. It also starts 1 hour earlier than The Colbert Report.
I am not a big fan of Late Night either. I skip through the first monolog and get to the police or social commentary parts of the show now. I will watch more if I like the guests. Generally though I will agree with you here that Late Night just isn't that good. The jokes aren't biting enough, the fake energy feels fake, etc. And I completely hate the band, the shitty music they play, and the band leader for no reason except that he bores me to tears.
