Try manually deleting all the temp files you can find under windows, then dump your cache, and defrag it with a reboot in between about 3 times straight. Hitting delete in IE etc does NOT delete all the temp files. And they can seriously add up and cause a system to slow down.
Check your system with Norton (windoctor) if you have it too. If you have a lot of buildup in the registry from programs-spyware that left behind reference lines then that can also slow down the reg reads. I assume you have no working spyware or kazaa or bearshare etc.

man I got all kinds of spyware on this shit that I can't get rid of...and I have kazaa on it....I'm about to run the Macafee quick clean to see if that will fix it...but first, I should run adaware to try to get rid of the save now stuff..
