It would have been better if he had out maneuvered Gordon at his own game instead of becoming an informant for the Feds. So Bud Fox turns on Gordon and exacts his revenge but does not cooperate with investigators. Then a few years later they could have came out with a proper sequel and carried on the character of Bud Fox. But the way it ended with him pussing out ruined any chance of him coming back as a magnetic personality.
