As little to do with it as the European Nations expanding Empires under the guise of spreading Christianity.
Religion is the galvanising force that makes people go into unnecessary wars to expand the wallets of a few. And yes Islam does preach hate and spreading Islam by war.
Blaming the West is implying Muslims are unable to stop themselves from killing each other. Much like the tribal atrocities the World over. It's something very basic within us to hate a stranger. And for uss to want to extend their powers, using that instinct.

Yes and colonisation of the world. It starts with the head religious ponchos thinking they can get a seat in heaven, by killing non-believers. Then the non-believers become people who want to worship the same god, messiah but in a slightly different way. The religious wars in Europe are a clear sign of how it works. Even as recent as 1935 Germany waged war on German Jews.
