I don't know much about this case. But one thing I can say with confidence is they are very likely not armed.
How can I be so sure? Because California has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country. Especially for felons. I'm sure the last thing these guys want to do is break a law and end right back up in prison. I mean, think about it. If they escaped from prison, its a fair assumption they don't like it there. They're not going to do anything stupid.
