That would likely result in the parties generating less revenue and relinquishing some control of the process. Apparently they don't want to do that. If you feel the need to blame someone for the realities of the political party presidential primary debate process in 2016, blame the political parties.

Here's the breakdown by network of all GOP primary debates this year.
Fox - 5
CNN - 4
CNBC - 1
ABC - 1
CBS - 1
The mix is a bit Fox-heavy but still leaves registered Republican voters with plenty of debates to watch before determining who they will vote for to represent their party in the upcoming presidential election. Demanding more is just greedy.
If bias is evident in any of the remaining debates, they can simply take that into account before making their decision.
