Those chickens are a specific breed. We keep laying hens year round and get a batch of meat chickens to put in the freezer. They are a completely different bird than your average chicken. Their appetite is voracious. The wife calls them the fuzzy yellow piranha. If there's food around they would sit in front of it and gorge themselves until they keeled over if they could. They are unusually wide in the breast and are extremely good at converting food into meat. It takes only 8 weeks to go from day old chick to 8 lb dressed chickens. I actually hate picking them up because they feel a sum of their parts.
