1. The first reason I believe it is so is that this is fucking curse on westerners. every strong creature has an Achilles heel. This I think is a weakness embedded at molecular level in western civilization.
I wont go as far to say that it will one day be the nemesis of western civilization but this inability to differentiate friends and foes will cost very heavily for sure.
