tubes and torrents are offering service for FREE, while uber/ illegal taxis are usually just 2-3 times cheaper...so its not the same.
I wouldnt trust any taxi - if they will ride with meter turned on, usually they circle around the city so the customer will pay more. unless you will check them with your GPS in your smartphone or something like that...
it was all bullshit with licenses for taxis from the beginning - in every country taxis are like mafia in transport, I bet that in UK it's the same

Also as an aside, seems like we have it pretty good here as far as taxis/minicabs, been using them for years and never had the problems other posters seem to have had in other countries. |
