I left my wallet in the car so I didn't have my White Privilege badge with me but I felt it was obvious I'm white, so why did I need to show my badge? Anyhow they were all rude and disrespectful so I just left. Later at my evening White Privilege Meeting I shared my experience and we all discussed strategies for handling awkward moments like I had. Some suggested I pull down my hoodie so everyone can clearly see I am white and should get special attention. Others told stories of being caught committing serious crimes (CFWW - Committing Felonies While White) and being let loose and given a free restaurant gift card along with a friendly pat on the back and apology by white police honoring our White Privilege. Still it was very annoying and I am going to pull my hoodie down when I enter a restaurant in the future even if it is hot, uncomfortable and hard to see my face. It just gives them an excuse to pretend they can't see that I am white and should be afforded my White Privilege. It's tough out there.
