The historical truth is the Black Panthers were a peaceful organization albeit with a communist agenda. They were transformed and radicalized into a violent group by the FBI. Before that, they fed the poor and homeless.
They weren't against MLK, they just believed that advancement for blacks would best be served by blacks supporting blacks. Most of the whitey folk here would even agree with that ideal and support that effort.
Beyonce's show was lame just because it was cheesy, appropriating the Panthers was just unearned and undeserved. She is the last person to celebrate such a leftist cause. She is part of the bourgeoisie, part of the economic system that unjustly preys on the working class. She sold her people out long ago. Tell her to donate every dollar she makes from that song to helping her people and see what happens. Panthers hated drug dealers like her capitalist pig husband.
There certainly was no power in it like this...
