Because Obama was forced to go via the private healthcare sector. We in Europe have a far better and cheaper system. It's not free though, we pay less via taxes.
On the plus side, it doesn't stop delivering the moment your insurance plan expires or they can find a reason to deny paying for treatment. Should your business completely implode, or you retire, all the time you paid in will cover you. So yes then it becomes free and there's no committee to decide if you live or die. Like the US system.

Agree. We're importing cheap labor as fast as the big corporations can get away with it. To keep wage levels down, property prices up and forcing the costs onto middle-income taxpayers. All free further education has to be on merit and need, healthcare, benefits, education, housing, etc. Only to citizens of the country. Try getting that passed by bought and paid for politicians. Not a hope in hell.
Crazy thing is, you think it's for your benefit.
The problem is there's more money in building arms than colleges, more in keeping the population scared of getting sick than keeping them fit, more in keeping people poorer than richer. For the 0.5%
And if you think billionaires are spending money to have it any other way, you're beyond hope.
