I have a friend who's a "mason" although he doesnt really go by the name. His uncles are also masons. The way he described it is basically a get together of pretty normal people.
Basically there is an exchange offer of services where you're "supposed" to help your fellow masons out with your main skillset (which basically no one does)
He said the people there in general are utterly useless. That its basically people with to much time on their hands trying to free load and feel important.
I think years and years ago it was way different. In times where knowledge was suppressed. Now in this day and age especially with the internet knowledge is readily available. So now you just get run of the mill local guys attenting for a club atmosphere.
