When i fill in the specs at for example leaseweb, the similar server only not managed, costs me around 150 euros... not $20...
I pay 400 euros a month... Managed, and it includes an sla (couple of hours free support in case i need them to do something).

I have zero complaints about the performance of my current host and have zero downtime etc... but... i have this feeling it can be done cheaper

And if you learn few linux commands, you dont even need control panel. But better to start with control panel when you dont know anything, after all i was using whm/webmin till i learned everything what i needed to know.
Why don't i need managed hosting? learning a few Linux commands is one thing... but aren't there errors to be fixed? etc??? Just asking i have no idea if and what errors can occur on a server and at what frequency...

Thanks everyone for the replies...
