All of these are scams. You aren't going to learn enough from a seminar to became a real estate expert. In this case, they charged a lot of money, then tried to get them to buy into more classes, and promised support that never came. This was just really bad all around.

The name was for marketing only; I am guessing Trump wasn't involved at all other than showing up to get his picture taken a few times and make a few commercials.
This is common with a lot of Trump's businesses. He put his name on hotels in Florida and Mexico, seems to have had very little to do with them, and then takes a share of the profit. He does this with most of his business deals - he puts his name on something that he doesn't own.
