You just negated your own statement about it being unfair. You do not get paid for how well you perform or how much work you put on set. You get paid based on your value of someone who can attract people to pay tickets.
So even if she put more work and if she acted better than Cooper it is still fair for her to paid less if Cooper was the one who attracted more people than her.
I thought things like that are pretty obvious.
