Not sure how Nevada is, but in Florida we have a 10-15-Life system in place. 10 years in prison if you have a gun during the commission of a felony. 15 years in prison if you shoot it, even if you miss. And life in prison if you hit someone, whether they die or not. There's more language involved in the statute, but that's the jist of it.

Then again, he could have been found with unregistered or illegal (fully auto or modified) guns as well. We won't know unless they release the arrest documents. My guess is that he was charged because it was in his possession, constructive possession, during an arrest for a felony. The guns could have been in his bedroom while he was arrested in his living room, but that's still considered constructive possession. By legal standards, the same as actual possession.
