If nothing else he will be entertaining on the campaign trail.
He's already entertaining in his announcement!
I heard Rush Limbaugh attacking him today and pointing out that he said things today in his announcement that NO advisors in politics today would have allowed him to say. And then he played soundbites from the speech and was laughing at him.
And Rush was correct. Trump will say what he wants to and will not be "handled" like every politician is.
Hell, if not for the stupid "birther" shit from 2012...I'd think Trump would have a chance.
And he still might. The things he said today about jobs are what most Americans are wanting.
I was in shock when Pres. Obama took office in the middle of a horrible collapse of the economy...and instead of doing something about jobs...he opted to give us all a new health insurance bill to pay instead.
Listening to Trump talk about jobs...I think that might resonate.
Which is why Republicans, Dems, and the media will do nothing but ridicule him (he's an easy target) and try to make sure he has no chance in hell.
Limbaugh theorized that Trump has no chance to win the Republican primary...and that then he will go independent in the general election as a candidate and that will practically give the election to Hillary Clinton.
That explains why Republicans are trashing him so hard.

Republicans tend to stick to their party message. Trump could be that rare republican that strikes a populist tone. Like you said, people want to hear about jobs. Not just any jobs, but good paying jobs. Many people blame their job losses on China and Trump will have harsh words for China.
I don't think he will win the republican nomination, but he could make some noise and I won't be shocked to then see him run as an independent. Of course, as Limbaugh said, if he does that it pretty much hands the election to Hillary.
If nothing else. He's not a politician. Which is a step in the right direction.
This is an interesting thought. To me there are two very different sides to this coin.
The simple reality is that the president can't do much without the support of congress. So Trump wouldn't be able to just roll into the white house and do as he pleases. It will all come down to two things. This goes for whoever gets elected, not just Trump:
1. How well they can work with congress. They need to be able to get the house and senate to work with them on various projects or they are going to be in trouble quickly.
2. How willing congress is to work with the president. As we saw with Obama, his first two years the republicans said no to everything and filibustered everything. They were not going to work with him no matter what he offered them or what the proposal was. When that happened Obama failed at #1 and couldn't break the blockade.
Whoever is next will likely meet the same fate. The republicans are likely going to hold control of the house and senate. If the new president is a democrat the republicans will have little motivation to work with them. If the new president is a republican the democrats, who just 8 years ago looked to be poised to run the country for a long time to come and now are out on their asses, will likely return the favor and try to block anything and everything the president does. How the president deals with this will determine how well they are able to do their job.
Yeah kane...but working with Congress would be a lot easier IF he could actually get better trade deals negotiated and is able to get companies to bring jobs back to the U.S.
He had some pretty interesting things to say about that today.
Yeah...it can be tough shoving a "health care" act through Congress without anyone even reading it. That took a party line vote to accomplish.
And yeah, it can be tough getting Congress to play along on other crap that always involves the people getting screwed in the end.
But...would he really need to build a coalition to pass a trade agreement that was actually in favor of the U.S.?
Maybe not.
Not saying he could actually achieve that. But he has a point...he does have teams of negotiators that are far above the pay grade of any that President Obama has at his disposal.
And he has dealt with the movers and shakers of the world (he IS one of them).
I'm thinking jobs and prosperity. I think that many others are too

I'm not saying Obama did the right thing. I am simply saying that I feel the republicans were not going to work with him no matter what he did.
Could Trump pass better trade deals? Sure. If he could negotiate deals that were better for the US and helped bring jobs back to the US he could likely get those passed. I'm not so sure he could get the other countries to agree to them. We would have to be willing to give them something in return and that could be a big snag.
it is 30+ years of bad deal making and bad policies that have our economy in a bad way.It will be hard for anyone to dig us out of this.
I really hope so - i can picture Trump hitting the red button screaming "you're fired!"
Trump will be a terrible president but still......... If I have to choose between (a) Another Bush (b) Joe Biden (c) Hilary Clinton (d) Lindsey Graham or almost all the others, I still would choose Trump any day. At least he is decent, has business experience (which is needed to turn the ship around), knows what's going wrong and has a fucking sense of humour.
I'd probably choose Rand Paul first and Trump second. Trump has a much better chance though for obvious reasons but with Trump America won't change much fundamentally. With Rand Paul, America has a chance to move closer to what it was with the forefathers. I don't even know what the forefathers are but it will be closer to them anyway.
If Joe Biden ever makes it to the top spot, America (and the world) is doomed....

WRONG... He had the 60 votes in the Senate for a while during his first two years and I don't seem to remember a filibuster of the supposedly Affordable Care Act since that is now the Law of the Land!!

Ted Cruz read Green Eggs and Ham on the Senate floor for 21 hours to postpone a vote on the ACA. The democrats had to scramble to pass it because Scott Walker's election took away their super-majority, but I digress, Obama did get is passed.
To date there have been 307 republican filibusters against Obama. That is about the same amount as G.W. Bush, Clinton and Reagan (the next three Presidents with the highest amount of filibusters) combined. 137 of those filibusters came during Obama's first two years in office.

I don't think there is really any difference in the 2 parties. They both RULE our country.
Having said that...maybe we are looking at it all backwards.
Perhaps Obama's ideas are so BAD that it has brought about all those filibusters.
Of course it's easy to say it's because he's half-black...and that every Republican in the world is a "racist".
But maybe it's just that a guy with no executive experience at ALL...either in real life or in politics...just ended up really sucking at the job.

I agree that there is not much difference in the two parties. There are a few things they clearly see differently, but I think about 90%+ is pretty much the same.
I also think the republicans were suffering from a case of sour grapes. Bush had hurt them badly and they just got destroyed in back to back elections and with the changes in the electoral map it was starting to look like they could be in serious trouble in the future. I don't doubt that Obama had some bad ideas that brought on some of the filibusters and I don't think his being black had anything to do with it. I think it was pure strategy. The republicans went into office on day one of Obama's presidency with the plan to say no to everything and filibuster everything. It was a bold move. Had things still gone well for Obama it would have hurt the republicans, but Obama didn't do well and the republicans were rewarded by gaining in the election.
I think the next president very well may face a similar situation. Once one side puts down a blueprint for success the other will follow it. If that happens, how well this president deals with it will define how good of a job they are going to do.
kane, i see your are an aspiring GFY novelist, but you can never beat Robbie. He is a consistent forum novelist with years of experience, writing walls of text every other visitor instantly skips at the sight of it, almost on par with the king of forum novels - the honorable Paul Markham.

Actually, I think Robbie and I have pretty similar views on many things politically. . . and we both like to debate.
No i didnt you communist bastard. We would all be in bread lines waiting for this weeks rations if most of you had your way.
We need to talk about economy and making money. Thats all ANYONE deep down gives a shit about. When cash, jobs and investment are flowing everything else becomes better.
Im sick and tired of lazy socialist pieces of crap.
America is supposed to be the LAND of the FREE. That means free to build your own life. Not free to hold hands and sing koombaya. Or sit on your fat black ass and collect money from the state.
All this pussy shit needs to stop. It is disgusting.
It is time America gets back to building America and rewarding those who want to see it grow.
So many of you losers supposedly run a business (which im sure you make almost $0 in profit) and yet you act like socialist losers who want to give it all away. Well fuck you.
I want to see Trump in a steam roller painted red white and blue plowing over all the welfare checks and sociliast pussy programs.

Donald Trump is basically the Republican party id speaking out loud without filters. I love it. He's going to bring the whole thing down to an even lower level than it already is with all of the fucking knuckledraggers who are running.

MetaMan... so what's so bad with a bit of socialism? What do you think Social Security and Medicare are? Way more socialist than The Affordable Health Care Act which is essentially a Republican principle of everyone paying their way
Republicans are not just stupid they are dangerous....
unless Jeb or Hills are dropping out (not impossible with all those known and unknown scandals), there's no way that anyone else than those two will run. the rest is just wasting money
