It's a myth that clothes would cost that much if production was moved to the west. Look at American Apparel. They do all their manufacturing in the US. Just checked prices on their site and good quality button down shirts are $40-60. Pretty much the exact same price as a Zara shirt that's manufactured in Bangladesh.

The reason why the CEO of Nike wants you to think that shoes would cost $300 a pair is that's what the price would have to be for him to keep is obscene salary. Someone already posted it in another thread, but western consumers are more conscious than ever about buying locally made products. The internet is only helping this trend. Combine that with the fact that China and other 3rd world countries can only sustain if they suppress the quality of life of their own people and I see this trend continuing.
