Understand and sympathize...
When I got on the bus I was bummed to never have seen a Pigpen era show.
As a taper I regretted the great ones I missed, so it is a beautiful thing that so many were recorded and things like sugarmegs and archive.org exist.
I also personally enjoy how the music is
moving into another generation and how it is being interpreted by bluegrass, jazz, rock, even classical bands and composers. I go to see a group of local musicians that cover the Dead and it amazes me how there are twenty year olds that never saw a Jerry show but love the music and can experience the joy of the improvisation and feel the spirit even though they never saw Jerry.
His spirit and musical genius truly live on.
