Eventually we or more likely our future generations will be able to see whole world in a digital format, browsable and searchable, on many different levels such as landscapes, all infrastructure ground and under, and underwater sea bed. This will have many uses in real life.
In a pipe dream, eventually becoming smaller and smaller with very high resolution that it could be used in health industry as a diagnostic tool by flowing in and mapping an individual human body, detecting defects and areas that need attention. Say 'hello' to micro drones
coming in swarms to repair one's tissues and organs.
Where in a complete sci-fi turn out of events
If you want to believe in a worst case scenario with future real Artificial Intelligence being created, pursuing its mission to destroy human kind, with access to this tech; humans are basically phucked out of extinction. And just like in a good movie, it has to be continued...
Then on a quantum level we somehow don't die, while recognizing our existence in a new form of pure conscious energy and learning to become as one with the machine. A profound irony of inventing a 'virtual reality' camera!
