Seems like part of any action movie/t.v. series plot that the "Batman and Joker" theorem is always used.
And the bad guy NEVER learns.
Note to self: I ever become an evil villain, I will kill the hero INSTANTLY and I will NOT first give a long speech telling them my whole plan and organization.

In Negan's defense...he's just looking at this group as another means of building his empire. But he seems to have forgotten they've killed about 30 of his people, which makes them dangerous. The villain usually does himself in inadvertantly. In this case because of greed.
