I think germans are very friendly and nice people too...but WW2 had a profound impact on the economies of many countries and we are still feeling it today in one shape or another...
look if you keep a region as a colony for 100-s of years, the effect of the said colonization is felt 100-s of years later...this is completely sound logic...
the UK for example did not get rich by being hard hard workers, they got rich by exploiting colonies...the standard in the UK grew, so did the wages, and now UK people are basically un-employable...
we will be feeling the effects of US foreign policy and money printing for the next 100 years minimum...
I repeat my point:
you can not piss in the pool and make a law that the piss stays away from you, its not how it works...you can flap your hands and make the piss go away temporarily, but its a futile effort, you are just making the piss mix with the water more...

eventually you will have to face the consequences of successful or unsuccessful colonization...the successful ones will grow rich, the unsuccessful ones will take their jobs...
